Kike Sarasola

While this wasn’t the first time that I’ve encountered Kike Sarasola, this was the first time that I’d found him not surrounded by fans, well wishers, and those hoping to drum up some business.

Just after he’d finished his talk at South Summit in Madrid, I caught Kike backstage and asked him if we could do a couple quick shots. Without a thought, he quickly removed his microphone and peeled off the name badge.

Now normally, I get the standard, “What do you want me to do?” question, and it’s my job to have at least three different poses/looks/ideas ready to go. With Kike, it was just the opposite. Having appeared in a number of film and television productions, this man knows exactly how to hit pose after pose after pose.

And while we got a number of great looks, after three or four, we both just started laughing and having a good time. I slipped into the cliché, “Oh yeah, oh yeah, work it, work it … give it to me,” act, and Kike quickly jumped on board. This was the last shot of the series, and I managed to capture the, “Ok, how about this? … and I’m out!” look, and hopefully some of the joviality of the session as well.

For a man of his accomplishments (he’s competed in three olympic games), I found Kike to be incredibly gracious in both his time and demeanor, as well as his respect for the art form. He knew what I was there for, and without a second though, stood and delivered. My deepest respect and gratitude good sir!

Enjoy, and if you’d like to work with me, get in touch!
