The quartet performed a “secret” show as part of the conference, and for a “pop up” show that saw stage lights arranged on lifts, it was pretty impressive.
Armed with just my Fuji X-Pro2 and the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 lens, I managed to get some pretty choice shots. And as is typical with most jobs, I was able to snake my way down fairly close to the stage, through sheer confidence. That is to say, no one specifically asked me if I had the right wristbands to get into the VIP area down front. It was a simple matter of flashing the camera and owning the moment. Security never batted an eyelash.
My favourite shot of the evening has to be the last shot in this deck. The group were finishing a song, posing strong for the crowd and a spotlight, and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. With a second shooter, I would have liked a nice front row, front facing version of this, but I also believe the side profile adds a lot of drama, particularly considering the black void that serves as the backdrop.
